In contrast, the study highlighted the significant disparity in costs with luxury vehicles. For instance, the Porsche Cayenne topped the list of most expensive vehicles to operate, requiring a substantial$56,010 over five years. The Porsche Macan and BMW X5 xDrive40i followed closely, each exceeding$48,000 in total running costs.
Although depreciation was not factored into the running cost calculations,MarketWatch noted varying depreciation rates between comparable gas-powered and electric models.Notably, electric vehicles like the Audi E-Tron GT experienced faster depreciation compared to their gasoline counterparts, impacting overall ownership costs significantly.
This analysis underscores the importance of considering both upfront costs and long-term expenses when evaluating the total cost of ownership for different vehicle models.
